WHAT WE BELIEVE
WHAT WE BELIEVE
St. Matthias Episcopal Church exists to proclaim through Word and Sacrament that—as Hebrews says—“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.”
We are a theologically orthodox church in the catholic tradition of Anglicanism. As such, we believe:
God is one God, in three Persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Jesus Christ is true God, and true man.
Jesus Christ died on the Holy Cross to save mankind from sin, death, and the devil.
Jesus Christ was bodily resurrected on the third day.
Jesus Christ will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead.
Jesus Christ is the only way to the Father.
God is present in his Word and Sacraments bestowing forgiveness of sins.
The Holy Bible is the inspired word of God.
